Our next chance to take off on a long camping vacation came again in the summer of 2004. I had just finished my first year of teaching and was ready to take my first paid summer. Our family had grown and we now had the logistics of traveling with our two boys. On this trip Evan was five and Ian three. While this might seem a bit young to take kids on extended camping trips, we decided they might as well get used to this type of summer because it is what we have in mind. Needless to say they and we loved it. We had a great summer traveling to interesting places like Bandelier National Park in northern New Mexico and camping throughout Colorado. In Colorado we took a jeep on a loop that traversed some really high passes, rented a boat at lake city, took some great hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park and attended a really wet Rocky Grass Bluegrass festival. I doesn't seem like four years since you guys made this trip out West. The boys HAVE grown! Still love those buzz cuts, though - I guess they remind me of two other little boys.
